1. Bradbury Building
The Bradbury Building is the oldest commercial building remaining in the central city and one of Los Angeles’ unique treasures.
Behind its modest, mildly Romanesque exterior lies a magical light-filled Victorian court that rises almost fifty feet with open cage elevators, marble stairs, and ornate iron railings. The identity of the building’s final architect is a subject of debate. Lewis Bradbury, a mining and real estate millionaire, commissioned Sumner Hunt to create a spectacular office building. Hunt turned in completed designs but was replaced soon after by George H. Wyman, who supervised construction.
Built in 1893, the building was commissioned by Los Angeles gold-mining millionaire Lewis L. Bradbury and constructed by draftsman George Wyman from the original design by Sumner Hunt. It appears in many works of fiction and has been the site of many movie and television shoots and music videos.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977, one of only four office buildings in Los Angeles to be so honored. It was also designated a landmark by the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission and is the city’s oldest landmarked building.
The building underwent complete restoration in the early 1990s as part of the Yellin Company’s Grand Central Square project.
2. Grand Central Market
Grand Central Market, a downtown landmark since 1917, brings together the cuisines and cultures of LA. The oldest and largest open-air market in the area.
3. Walt Disney Concert Hall
The Walt Disney Concert Hall, also known as Disney Hall, is the fourth hall to join the Los Angeles Music Center. Its sleek curves and intricate structural patterns are matched by no other concert hall in the United States.
We will walk among the locations, please do wear comfort shoes and clothes, bring enough water. Please also check the weather to have best gears!
